Erin Sharkey, DDS
Dentist | Fellow, International Congress of Oral Implantologists
Dr. Sharkey was born and raised in upstate New York, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Binghamton University. After completing her undergraduate studies, she spent a year assisting a variety of dental specialists to gain as much experience as possible before attending dental school the following year.
After living in New York for 23 years, Dr. Sharkey moved south to Richmond, Virginia, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. It was in dental school where she found her love for providing dental care to the underserved populations through Mission of Mercy projects all throughout the state of Virginia. After graduation, Dr. Sharkey continued to move south to Florida where she completed a year-long residency at The University of Florida’s program in St. Petersburg — one of the most competitive programs in the country. During her short time in St. Pete, she attended several hours of continuing education, including a year-long implant continuum as well as several occlusion courses with The Dawson Academy.
Dr. Sharkey made the easy decision to move to Asheville so she could be closer to family and friends, and because she has greatly missed living in an area that has a climate with four seasons. She looks forward to developing relationships with her patients and the wider Asheville community, and is excited to continue giving back to the less fortunate in her time away from the office.
